Kent University, School of Arts

As a multi discipline centre of art based research, the new School of Arts at Kent University by Hakins\Brown Architects is a fascinating dynamic space. The building is divided across 3 floors catering for all manner of creative activities, from drama and theatre studies through to cinematography and fine art.

The students are first confronted with a bright monocromatic central atrium, punctuated by intense red furniture. The cleverly designed metal mesh and glass windows flood the communal spaces with diffused daylight, whilst maintaining a cool environment during the summer months. This is a perfect space for creative energies to cross-pollinate hopefully producing exciting new artistic collaborations.
